About the Role
Job Description Summary: Responsible for inspecting building envelope using engineering skills to determine structural soundness and compliance with specifications. Performs analysis of building materials for use in construction. Determines and documents the cause of structural failures, damages, and defects through site investigations. Performs destructive testing. Develops drawings or specifications for use during construction and ensures all projects comply with applicable codes and regulations. In addition, provides reports detailing investigations and assessment of damage to the structure by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
1. Structural Analysis and Quality Assurance
• Conduct structural analyses using software tools and manual calculations to ensure designs meet safety and performance criteria.
• Inspects field of ongoing projects and prepares inspection reports.
• Performs destructive testing of building envelopes which may require access through
swing stages, scaffolding, ladders, attic spaces, etc.
2. Project Management
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints.
• Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource requirements.
• Travels to and/or from jobsites throughout the state and, if necessary, other states.
3. Code Compliance
• Research codes and regulations.
• Review project documents.
• Shop drawing reviews.
4. Technical Documentation
• Prepare photo matrix and reports of structural and architectural deficiencies.
• Prepares and designs documents, project specifications, drawings, protocols, cost
analysis, etc.
• Pays application and changes order review.
5. Collaboration and Communication
• Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify potential risks in structural designs and propose mitigations.
• Attends weekly, as called upon, meetings and prepares minutes for the projects.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Florida

• Language ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
• Driver’s License required.
