About the Role
This multifaceted role specializes in the inspection, analysis, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in buildings and other structures. MEP engineers are responsible to collaborate with architects, construction teams, and other professionals to integrate and evaluate critical systems while considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and structural impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
• Mechanical Systems
• Analyze HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems for optimal performance and energy efficiency.
• Specify and select mechanical equipment, such as chillers, pumps, etc.
• Electrical Systems
• Analyze and design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Specify electrical equipment and components, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Plumbing Systems
• Analyze and design plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, and fire protection systems.
• Specify plumbing fixtures, pumps, and other components.
• Collaborate with structural engineers to integrate plumbing systems into the overall building designs.
• Code Compliance and Standards
• Stay up to date with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Ensure that MEP designs and installations comply with all applicable requirements.
• Technical Documentation
• Prepare detailed engineering reports, drawings, specifications, and reports for MEP systems.
• Provide or give support to those who give expert testimony in legal proceedings, if required.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering. • Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Florida is required. • Five years of MEP engineering or a related field is preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Project management is a plus. • Driver’s License required. • Willingness to travel is approximately 50%.
